원래 체첸공화국 민요를 번안한 것으로
SBS드라마 '모래시계'의 주제곡으로
유명했던 이곡은 러시아의 가사가 아닌..
러시아와 적대관계로 독립투쟁을
벌이고 있는 체첸공화국의 음유시라 한다.
'Crane(백학,두루미)'이라는 제목의 이 곡은
체첸 유목민 전사(戰士:Warrior)들의
영광된 죽음을 찬미하는 음유시에
러시아가수가 현대적인 곡을 붙인 것.
러시아 음악에는 '민요'와 함께 '
로망스'라는게 있는데
민초들의 삶이 담긴 민요와 달리
로망스는 귀족 문화에 기원을 두고 있으며
11세기 이후
귀족 영주들에 귀속된 음유시인들이
즉흥적으로 불렀던 노래가 바로
로망스의 시초라 하며..
19세기에 이르러
상류계급과 지식인층으로부터
많은 사랑을 받으며 널리 알려졌다 한다.
문학적인 가사에
고전음악 악기로 반주하는 로망스는
사랑과 이별, 인간의 고뇌, 자연 등을 주제로 하며
'백학'도 이 로망스에 속한다 한다.

This is a beautiful and moving song from the Soviet era in honour of fallen veterans. It is elegiac, and it is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Dmitri Khvorostovsky sings it with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra and The Style of Five accompany him.
This video has photographs of women who served in combat during the Second Great Patriotic War. It is my tribute to their courage and determination. Today, some 92,000 women serve in the Russian forces... a proud tradition continues!

It flies in the fog, as the day dies,

With the flock of the cranes in the same blue-grey haze,
Calling from the sky, in the language of the birds,
The names of you I have left on earth.

A wonderful song from the Second World War that's about the cranes that bring the soldier's souls back to the sky.

Zvezda - Song ZHURAVLI
As I already mentioned, this was a special concert, so every singer/group had a patriotic song in his repertory. Serebro this time had one of the most famous Russian songs coming out of world war II - 'Zhuravli' ('Cranes'). Originally written as a poem by Rasul Gamzatov and later became a very well known song.
Cranes have become associated with dead soldiers, because of this a big part of WWII memorials in the former Soviet Union feature the image of flying cranes.
